Start Sailing Programme for Adults and Youth Sailing Development
open to local schools and the Hout Bay community.
We sail all-year round. In Summer club racing is on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons and in Winter, Saturday afternoons.
HBYC has a very relaxed atmosphere with drinks and pub food available. Open to non-members when sporting events are screened.
With the introduction of coastal rowing skiffs, you can now join HBYC as a rowing member and participate in this fast growing sport.
Welcome to our Club
Sailing is often seen as quite an elitist sport, giving the impression of a yacht club’s doors being closed to the general public. This is not the spirit of HBYC! Our aim is to make sailing accessible for everyone, with regular club racing and more relaxed cruising events. Sailing tuition is available for children and adults, in both dinghies and keelboats. HBYC has also recently introduced coastal rowing skiffs as part of the club’s activities.
*special thanks to photographer Alec Smith for permission to use many of his shots (taken during our Admiral’s Regatta), for this website.
